Forecast


Solar energy production is forecasted by combining SolarScience production engine with modelled weather data from the NOAA Global Forecast System (GFS). High/mid/low level clouds as well as temperature and wind data is fed into the engine.
AC energy production (Chart 1) and daily total production (Chart 2) for the selected number of days are calculated and updated daily.


Results are shown for Australian capital cities for the selected system size (your installed solar system) for panels at 3 orientations (azimuth) and 3 tilts.

This section has some helpful tips about our E-Forecast tool,
while this tool works on mobile and tablet, use of a desktop is advised for best viewing experience.

E-Forecast calculates the solar energy production as follows:
- Cloud cover meteorological data provides the amount of direct, diffuse and reflected solar irradiance;
- total production irradiance is determined from panel orientation and tilt;
- temperature and cooling effect of wind informs the efficiency of the panel in converting irradiance to DC energy;
- the loss from converting DC to AC is then applied.

Results are available anywhere in Australia at a 28km resolution. Capital cities shown in our E-Forecast tool are limited to 3 orientations (azimuth) and 3 tilts however for your personal system forecast and performance tracking ($5 per site per month): result are for your exact location, panel orientation and tilt. Our service can include performance tracking of your system with proactive alerts when production falls below manufacturer/installer guaranteed efficiency rates. Our maintenance management platform provides you with effortless control of your systems performance.
