Request report
Request your personalised report or offgrid analysis advising of next steps and containing technical detail that you can provide to solar and battery installers in 4 easy steps: 1) verify that the pre-populated information is correct and fill in any additional information, 2) hit the 'Generate report ($90)' or 'Offgrid analysis ($880)' button, 3) process payment through our secure PayPal account, 4) we'll email you your report or be in touch within 2 working days.
This section has some helpful tips about our System-ROI tool, while this tool works on mobile and tablet, use of a desktop is advised for full functionality.
Our free System-ROI tool provides information on: the optimum solar system size for you, is battery storage right for you, your potential to go off-grid, and your share to limit global warming.
You can then request your personalised report advising of next steps and containing technical detail that you can provide to solar and battery installers from within our System-ROI tool in 4 easy steps: 1) click on Request Report button and verify that the pre-populated information is correct, 2) hit the 'Generate report' button, 3) process payment through our secure PayPal account, 4) we'll email you your report within 2 working days.
The recommended solar system is the system with the highest Internal Rate of Return (IRR) which is your inflation adjusted average yearly return.
System-ROI functions throughout Australia, however at this time, other countries are not available. For certain postcode (mostly central Australia), data is not available for all consumption setups. In those few cases, null consumption is assumed and consequently financial outputs should not be used.
Our 'normal' versus 'smart' consumption involves transferring some of the evening consumption to solar production times (e.g. turning on the air-conditioning in the afternoon to pre-cool your house) as well as shifting hot water heating from night time (typically done in non-solar households to take advantage of cheaper off-peak rates) to day time. Maximising consumption when solar production is highest is financially beneficial due to the fact that feed-in tariffs are usually less than cost of electricity from the grid.
The Paris 2050 agreement commits to limit global warming to 2°C while aspiring to not exceed 1.5°C warming. Based on our calculations accounting for population growth, each Australian household needs to reduce emissions by 720 tCO2-e to achieve the 2°C target. The '% contribution to Paris 2050 target' is how much of your households fair share, the optimal system will achieve toward this target.
Going offgrid is becoming increasingly attractive with the decreasing cost of battery storage. The tradeoff is between: i) additional savings from no longer having to pay for grid connection fees and ii) excess electricity that is produced once the battery is full not being sold back into the grid.
Our financial estimates for savings and return on investment assume today's energy prices. However they are anticipated to increase over the next few years before decreasing in the mid to long term. An increase in rates would increase returns while a decrease would reduce them.
Our calculation engine considers cloud cover based on Bureau of Meteorology inputs and our $90 report allows for the consideration of shading from adjacent buildings, trees etc. However if the location of your panels is likely to experience significant levels of dirt etc., recommended system size should be increased.
